UC-SDRL Research Software
Some software developed during MS, PhD and/or contract research at the UC-SDRL is available to the general public under a University license agreement. The current software that is included in this license agreement is referred to as UC-SDRL Research Software. UC-SDRL Research Software currently includes the X-Modal II modal parameter estimation package, the MRIT-VXI and MIMO-VXI data acquisition package and the X-Utilities Library. Some of this software is described on the following web pages. If you wish more information, please contact us at software@sdrl.uc.edu.
Distribution/Maintenance Fee:
While there is no continuing cost for the license to use UC-SDRL Research Software, in order to receive the software there is a Distribution/Maintenance Fee that covers the initial distribution and software updates for a one year period. After that time, if the user does not wish to continue receiving updates, no further fee is required. Since the bulk of the software is distributed in Matlab script (open text), a user can potentially maintain the software. The reality is that, with Matlab version updates, some maintenance is required. The Distribution/Maintenance Fee is used to provide this maintenance, along with new features, by funding graduate research assistants working on their MS or PhD academic programs.
The current Distribution/Maintenance Fee structure is: Single User ($1250/year), Mutiple User-Up to 10 seats ($3750/year), Site User-unlimited seats at one defined site ($3750), Educational User-unlimited seats at one educational site ($1250).
Distribution/Maintenance Fee Upgrades:
Since the bulk of the UC-SDRL Research Software is distributed as Matlab script (open text), no demo software is currently available. The software can be demonstrated if you are able to visit the University but this is not possible for many users. If you are able to purchase a Single User Distribution/Maintenance Fee, we do allow an upgrade to a Multiple User or Site User if the request is made within 30 days of the initial receipt of the operational software and the University receives the license signed by the user within 60 days of the initial receipt of the operational software.
UC-SDRL Research Software License:
The license to use UC-SDRL Research Software is a general agreement not to distribute or commercialize the software but does not limit commercial use in any other way. Single User, Corporate, Site and Educational versions of the license are available. Single User licenses are available thru the web on a "click thru" license arrangement. All other licenses require a signed license by both parties.
